Sharon Stuwart, CEO of Elsevier(China)Visited HUST

 

On the afternoon of April, 16th, Ms Sharon Stuwart, CEO of Elsevier Group (China) visited our university and vice president of HUST, Yang Yong, held a reception in her honor in Building 1.

Both parties held talks to exchange opinions on how to further promote the cooperation between Elsevier and HUST. After listening to Yang’s introduction to current scientific research situation of our university, Ms. Sharon also introduced in details that how and from which aspects Elsevier, as the biggest scientific and technological publisher, gave support to the development of China’s science and technology. Yang, on behalf of HUST, expressed sincere gratitude to the contributions Ms. Sharon and Elsevier had done in this respect, and extended warm welcome to her and wished that she, as well as other chief editors of Elsevier could visit our university frequently at their convenience to offer training to the university’s research fellows. Chen Xueguang, head of Science and Technology Office, Zhang Guode, president of Science and Technology Association, and Chen Qiusheng, vice director of International Affairs Center had also been present.

After the talk, Ms. Sharon delivered a speech on “Support China’s science and technology development, realize the transfer of scientific and technological achievements” to teachers and students of HUST at the Report Hall in the library. Students actively raised questions in their interests.

It is known that our library has established a long-term stable cooperative relationship with Elsevier.

Elsevier was founded in 1850, the biggest publisher on science and technology and medicine in the world, as well as the first foreign publisher that set up an office in China. The Group boasts more than 2000 scientific and technological journals and periodicals, and the largest scientific and technological literature databases, Science Direct and Scopus, the former has become an important information source and research instrument for scientific researchers and institutes in China.
