From 18th to 20th October, IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing was held in HUST, co-organized by IFIP(International Federation of Information Processing), National Natural Science Fund Committee, Lecture Notes in Computer Science and the University.

Prof Feng Xiangdong, vice president of the University addressed the conference. Attended the conference were over 160 prestigious scholars and representatives of the enterprising field from over 20 countries and districts such as China, America, Korea, Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan. The experts and scholars had conducted a broad and deep discussion on the questions concerning network and parallel computing. Internationally famous experts like Kai Hwang and Thomas Sterling delivered brilliant speeches.

It is known that NPC is one of the series of academic conferences organized and held by the IFIP, with the purpose to provide a platform for the scientists and engineers from various countries to exhibit the latest research fruit in the area of network and parallel computing. With its high academic standard, NPC has a far-reaching influence in the related research field.

It is the first time for IFIP to hold the conference in China. The conference will give great impetus to the development of the information technology and IT industry. It has gained strong support from the noted enterprises like Intel and IBM.
