On the morning of October 28, HUST 2004 Sports Meeting opening ceremony was held on the east playground with the presence of University president and vice presidents Prof Fan Mingwu, Prof Huang Guangying, Prof Feng Xiangdong, Prof Liu Xianjun and Prof Feng Youmei.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Deputy President Huang Guangying. President Fan Mingwu delivered a speech. He said the aim of a university is to enlighten students with wisdom and cultivate them with high quality. HUST has experienced the pride of CUBA, the great victories in the 28th Olympic Games and Sports Meeting of Asia; What’s more important, HUST holds the spirits of sports.

During the opening ceremony, delegates of players and judges vowed to carry forward the sports spirits of solidarity and go-aheadism in this sports meeting in principal of justice and staidness.
