On March 22nd, Prof. Li Peigen, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed HUST President by the Central Committee of the CCP and the State Council.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Vice-Minister Wu Qidi extended congratulations to the new President Prof. Li Peigen and thanks to former president Prof. Fan Mingwu for his contributions to HUST and remarkable achievements during his service. She also conveyed good wishes to HUST for a glorious future.

After expressing his appreciations to all the attendants, President Li Peigen gave special thanks to the University’s senior leaders Prof. Zhu Jiusi, Prof. Qiu Fazu and his predecessor Prof. Fan Mingwu. He said he was deeply touched by their dedication and commitment to the development of the University and he is on their way to make HUST the first-class university in the world.

Prof. Zhu Yuquan, chairman of the University Committee, stated in his speech that Prof Li Peigen gained a high reputation in HUST for both his academic achievement and administrative ability. By the support of all the faculties and students in HUST, President Li will lead the University to a prosperous future and a new phase.
