HUST Students Hold Party to Welcome the New Year 2006


 

On the night of Oct. 31st of 2005, the New Year’s Party was held in a crowd and joyful atmosphere on the University sports ground. The University leaders Prof. Zhu Yuquan, Prof. Li Peigen, Prof. Ouyang Kang took part in the party with rejoicing students.

At 7:30 p.m, the free party, organized by the Student Union, began. Meanwhile, 28 schools and departments and 5 outstanding associations also organized garden parties of various styles. A lot of students were attracted by the delicious foods and the fancy presents. HUST Student Art Group made excellent performances. The whole playground was full of music, flowers, laughter and excitement.

At 11:30 p.m, The University leaders Prof. Zhu Yuquan, Prof. Li Peigen, Prof. Ouyang Kang came to the central playground and joined the students’ party. Having experienced various activities, Prof. Zhu said: “It’s a tradition to share the New Year’s time with the youth, it will be held every year. When I join you to experience the last second of 2005 and the first second of 2006, I’ve never been so excited! I even felt that I’m young!”

At 11:59 p.m, the leaders stepped onto the stage, counting down with thousands of students.

At 0:02 a.m of the New Year, President Li Peigen sent the best wishes to all students and faculty on behalf of the whole University. He briefly reviewed the achievements we made in 2005 in the University’s development, subject constructions, talent cultivation, scientific research and so on. He thanked all the students and faculty for their hard work and expressed enough confidence in 2006. Then Vice President Ouyang Kang wished all students success in 2006, with the word “New Year, New Phenomena, New Mood and New Harvest.”
