WRSA & OSA Founded in HUST

Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA) & Overseas-Educated Scholars Association (OSA) of HUST was founded in the conference room of Administration Building March 8, 2006. It is known that HUST is the second university to set up such an organization in Hubei Province.

Zhu Yuquan, chairman of HUST committee, and Zhong Hanlin, vice minister of Department of United Front Work of Hubei Province attended the inauguration and raised the curtain of the ceremony. Vice chairman Liu Jianfan presided over the inauguration.

The first meeting elected the council members of WRSA & OSA of HUST and the first chairman, Yang Shuzi, director of academic committee of HUST. In his address, Yang Shuzi claimed that competition in science and technology has become the focus of the ever-fiercer international competition, the kernel of which is the competition for talents, and that WRSA & OSA plays an important role in organizing the advanced talents of the overseas-educated scholars to contribute to the development of HUST, the city of Wuhan as well as Hubei Province.

Zhong Hanlin attached great importance to the roles that WRSA & OSA plays in the united front work of overseas-educated scholars. He hoped that WRSA & OSA of HUST will take an active part in related work and make the association home of overseas-educated scholars, giving full play to their enthusiasm and creativity and fully functioning as a people’s organization.

Zhu Yuquan affirmed the momentous contribution the returned scholars had made towards HUST. He extended that the association should become three vital links, namely, the link with western returned scholars in HUST, the link towards HUST’s open education, and the link between HUST and overseas-educated scholars, which are conducive to intersection of disciplines, knowledge innovation and innovation of science and technology, talents recruiting, and developing into a world renowned university with high academic level.

Leaders in Department of United Front Work of Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Huazhong Normal University and other universities attended the inauguration for congratulations.
