Signing of MOU on Academic Cooperation and Exchanges between HUST and UC

Professor Liu Wei, Vice President of HUST, received Mr. Garry Moore, Mayor of Christchurch, New Zealand, and Professor Scott Davidson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of University of Canterbury as well as other mayoral delegation members in the reception room on April 6, 2006.

Both Prof. Liu and Prof. Davidson addressed the signing ceremony, and they were fully convinced that the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between HUST and UC on Academic Cooperation and Exchange will pave the way for further cooperation. They exchanged presents after the signing and toasted the success with wine.

Christchurch is the third largest city in New Zealand. It is known that the University of Canterbury, one of the oldest universities in New Zealand, was established in 1873 by some scholars from Oxford University. The university is famous for its engineering.

The cooperation between two universities has started from the exchanges between School of Computer Sci. & Tech., HUST and School of Engineering, UC in 2004. The signing of this MOU and the visit of Christchurch Mayoral Delegation will certainly promote the cooperation and exchanges between two universities.
