Solidarity of Returnees from Japan at HUST held a grand New Year's Party in Yuyuan Restaurant of NO. 1 Reception Hotel on January 27.

Wang Haiying——assistant inspector of the United Front Work Department of Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and deputy secretary of Western Returned Scholars Association of Wuhan, Chen Dong——deputy director of the Western Returned Scholars Association, and Liu Jianfan——deputy party secretary of HUST attended the party and delivered speeches respectively.

At the party, Liu Jianfan announced the name list for the new council. Both former and incumbent presidents delivered speeches, in which they summarized their work and sketched plans and expectations for future work. Later on, the participants networked with each other through various games and entertaining programs.

The Solidarity of Returnees from Japan in HUST is said to have over 150 members since its foundation in July, 2000. Ever since their return, they have made great contributions to HUST in international exchanges, science and technology collaboration, technology introduction and introduction of finance and talents as the role of “media” and “carrier.” In addition, Solidarity initiated such activities as its Lecture on Popular Scientific Knowledge on Medicine for the Midddle-aged and Elderly.

Among the attendees at the party were some Japanese faculty from enterprises in Wuhan such as Honda, Sino-Japan Forest Breeding Science & Technology Center and AIDImedia Multimedia Development Co. Ltd, and principals from related departments of HUST.
