From February 9th to13th, under the guidance of Gao Liang (school of mechanical science and engineering); WangYizhi (department of mathematics); He Nanzhong(mathematics department), Dong Yan, Shi Ke Formed seven teams of 21 students from our college, and competed for 96 hours, they get the achievement in MCM(the mathematical contest in modeling).

Receiving the good news from the official website of MCM, 7 teams of HUST did good job in MCM/ICM. The team which was guided by the professor Gao Liang, formed with Lan Fujun(2004 school of mechanical science and engineering), Zhang Quanquan(2004 school of management), Lian Kunlei(2005 mechanical science and engineering)was the Meritorious winner. They earned the best score since our university has joined the MCM. And the other 6 teams won 3Honorable Mentions and 3 Successful Participants.

MCM is a world-wide mathematical contest in modeling for college students, organized by SIMA and COMAP in 1985. Each year, teams from hundreds of universities join the match. In 2007, 949 teams joined it.

During the competition, three students form a team. They are asked to pick up one task from three and finish a report in English during four days. Any material and software is available. The adjusters analyze them according to some standards: creation of a model, rationalization, correctness of the result and so on. The time for the competition is always in winter holidays.
