“To form a top university, besides property and human resources, we still need culture.” On Mar 14, the hall of academic reports was full of students. Academicians Yang Jiafu, former principal of FuDan University and principal of Nottingham University, UK was engaged as the advisory professor. He delivered a speech called “mission and culture of universities”. Academicians Yang Shuzi and Principal Li Peigen also shared their opinions during the speech.

“I realized that the facilities and great masters are not enough for a college. We still need “Bright Love”. This is the necessary factor that makes a college a top one”. Yang Jiafu pointed out his new opinion after explaining the task of Yale University and the opinion of Mei Yiqi, former principal of Tsinghua University.

Richard C. Levin, the respected president of Yale University, gave three necessary points of a top university property, human resources and culture. Yang Fujia pointed out,“Property includes the facilities of scientific research, teaching buildings and library; Human resources include not only great masters, but top students and managers as well. And “Bright Love” is the most important part of culture.”

In the morning of Mar 15, Yang Shuzi accompanied Yang Jiafu to call on Wuhan Photoelectric Laboratory. They were receipted by the assistant principal and engineers. The engineers discussed the development of the laboratory.

Yang Jiafu proposed and signed for a new research centre. Also the commemorative albums, which covered the 10 years progress of the research centre, were presented the two academicians.
