On the 6th of September, the commendation meeting and symposium on the Teachers’ Day of 2007 was held in the university, with the attendance of the President Li Peigen, the vice President Feng Xiangdong and the Secretary of the Party Committee Feng Youmei.

Mr.Feng Youmei announced the list of those teachers who have won titles of national, provincial or university levels in the 2006 and 2007. The School of Electric and Electronic Engineering was accredited with “the advanced unit of the national educational system”; Professor LuoJun from the Department of Physics was commended as “the advanced individual of the national educational system”; Five teachers--Liu Xianjun, Wu Jizhou, Chen Shi, Luo Qingming and Xia Juzhan were honored with “Bole Prize”; thirty teachers such as Ma Guangming were entitled with the “Talent Cultivation Prize” of the university; fifty-eight teachers were appraised with “Activists of Talent Cultivation” of the university. The senior executives awarded the certificates for the above-mentioned individuals.

During the symposium, representatives of prize winners delivered speeches respectively. They all expressed their gratitude for the care from university leaders, identified their further tasks and responsibilities and promised even more diligent work.

The President Li Peigen pointed out that the great development of the university cannot be achieved without the cautious and conscientious efforts by all the teachers. He hopes that the faculty could further clarify their responsibilities, liberate their thinking and feel open to explore. Moreover, teachers are also expected to pay attention to the political education of students and combine the political education with the technological innovation education.

The symposium was chaired by Vice President Feng Xiangdong. He stated in his sum-up that the teacher resources are the foundation of school-running without which it would be impossible to make any progress in the development of the university. He then extended his greetings and congratulations to all the teachers.
