On September, 26th, 2007 Project Implementation Conference of National Key Underpinning Research Development Plan ("973 plan") was held. This year, there are all together 73 projects of "973 plan" being approved and initiated. Vice minister of National Ministry of Technology, Cheng Jinpei delivered a speech and bestowed the honors to the chief scientists of those projects.

This year, our university has applied 6 projects of the"973 plan". After first and second appraisals and the comprehensive examination and appraisal, "Basic Theories and Methods Research on the Virtualization of Computing System" and "Basic Research on Clinical Monitoring and Prevention of Hepatitis B Serious Illness" have been funded with 46 million RMB. Professor Jin Hai from College of Computer Science and professor Ning Qin from Tongji Medical College are entitled with "Chief Scientist" of "2007 973 plan".

So far, our university has shouldered the responsibility for 9 projects of "973 plan" in sum, which ranks the top among all the universities and colleges of the nation.
