Academic Symposium on Development Strategy of Systems Science and Engineering

Organized by HUST, the Academic Symposium on Development Strategy of Systems Science and Engineering was held in Wuhan Lakeview Hotel from Oct.17th to 19th.

On the symposium, Qin Yuwen, Deputy Director of Information Science Department of National Natural Science Foundation, analyzed the status quo of information research. Qin reckons that information research is to encourage innovation of something that doesn't exist now, which is not equivalent to discovery research. TodayChina's GDP is increasing rapidly, but thisto a large extent, attributes to the prevailing of mass production in concomitance with enormous waste; whereas IT technology and artificial intelligence have not been much applied. Qin emphasized that our vision should not be confined to patents application or the achievement of several international standards; instead, information research, as a fundamental research, should target technology application as its development objective hence make contribution to social and economic development of the nation.

Vice president Liu Wei introduced the development of Systems Science and Engineering of HUST. He stressed it is our expectationthat the symposium will be helpful for the development of Systems Science and Engineering of our country. Besides, he made an introduction about our university.

Some renowned experts in the academic circle of Systems Science and Engineering were invited to the symposium. The symposium held over 30 academic reports.
