Singapore Scholarship Awarding Ceremony

 

The 2007 Awarding Ceremony of Singapore Scholarship was held on Oct.28 in HUST, with the attendance of the Executive Vice President, Professor Wang Cheng of HUST.

Before the ceremony, Wang Cheng met Ms Huang Yongle, Deputy Director of Singapore Ministry of Education and other officials from Singapore Ministry of Education, and professors from National University of Singapore and Nanyang Polytechnic Institute. Additional attendant included Hu Xiao, project leader of China Scholarship Council; Zhu Xin, Director of Students’ Affairs Office; Yu Hailin, Deputy Director of International Exchange Center; and Deputy Secretaries of General Party Branch from schools and departments in which some scholarship winners study.

Singapore offers total 342 quotas for Chinese undergraduate students, welcoming high school graduates to study in National University of Singapore and Nanyang Polytechnic Institute. HUST and other 14 Chinese universities are entrusted by Ministry of Education to select qualified students. Singapore government will offer full scholarship, living expenses and three flight tickets to the 15 students from HUST, for 3 to 4 academic years. According to the agreement, graduates are obliged work for Singapore registered companies for 6 years. 15 students of HUST have gained the scholarship and will pursuit their studies in Singapore.
