Establishment of Friendly Relations between HUST and Muroran Institute of Technology (Japan) |

At the golden season of autumn, representatives from HUST visited Muroran Institute of Technology which is located in Hokkaido, the most north part of Japan, and signed Agreement on Academic Exchange and Cooperation between HUST and Muroran Institute of Technology and Memo about Students’ Exchange between HUST and and Muroran Institute of Technology, establishing cooperative relations between the two universities. Situated in the city of Muroran, Hokkaido, Muroran Institute of Technology is a national university with a long history. Though ranking after Tokyo Institute of Technology and Nagoya Institute of Technology, it plays an important role in Japanese national universities dominated by science and engineering. Muroran Institute of Technology was established in May 1949 as a national institute under the provisions of the National School Establishment Law, by combining the Civil Engineering Department of Sapporo Agricultural College founded in 1887 and Muroran Higher Technical School founded in 1939. It has Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Department of Applied Chemistry and so on. Its sense engineering and artificial life research, carried out in the field of information engineering, have enormous influence in Japan. Satellite Venture Business Laboratory is established in the institute, researching and developing “key techniques of new generation software accustoming to life and human activities”. Another leading and prestigious research center is for aircraft system, whose wind tunnel research equipment is taking lead in Japanese universities. Representatives from HUST also visited the two research centers, in hope of establishing favorable cooperative relations in related fields. |
